Services

Consultations

Consultations are used to help gather any important information and background history needed prior to conducting an evaluation if warranted and/or starting therapy. These consultations are also used to educate and advise parents, teachers, and caretakers on the target goals from therapy sessions to help carry-over and generalize their skills into every day life.

Evaluations

Evaluations are conducted to assess and identify any speech and/or language deficits via the use of standardized assessments, background history, parent interviews, and observations. The evaluations are conducted in the comfort of the child’s home. A thorough written report discussing the findings of the assessment and overall evaluation is also included in the evaluation process.

Therapy

Alyson provides speech and language therapy services in the comfort of the child’s own home. Therapy goals are individually tailored to the child’s needs to help strengthen their overall communication skills. Family involvement is always welcomed and encouraged during therapy sessions since collaborating with families is extremely valued.

1. How do I get started if I think my child needs speech therapy?

If you have any questions and/or concerns regarding your child’s speech and language development, please contact us for a free 20 minute phone consultation. During the call, we will discuss any concerns you have regarding your child’s speech and language skills. We will then determine if an evaluation is warranted.

2. Do you accept insurance?

Shine Bright Speech Therapy is considered an out-of-network provider; however, we will provide you with a superbill that you can submit to your insurance company if you are seeking reimbursement for therapy services. A superbill is a receipt that will include necessary information such as diagnosis and treatment codes, session dates, and fees paid.
Please be advised that a submission of a superbill to your insurance company does not guarantee reimbursement for services. Please contact us if you would like to learn more about our rates.

3. What is the duration of a therapy session?

The duration of a therapy session will depend on each individual child’s needs. The session is typically scheduled for 30 minutes of direct therapy. We find that 30 minutes is the appropriate and sufficient amount of time to provide a productive therapy session so that the child is motivated, attentive, and eager to learn. After the session, Alyson always takes time to speak with the caregiver on how to carryover the skills the child has learned into the home and any progress that has been made.

4. Is an initial evaluation required?

Yes. An initial evaluation is required to gather the necessary information needed to determine a treatment plan and goals for the individual child. If your child has been evaluated within the last 6 months, we will review the evaluation reports to determine a treatment plan and/or if additional testing needs to be conducted.
